An Angel on the Pictures in Dorp Chirch.

...This is the forth exhibition of an artist in the same place. This time the theme of her work is "An Angel". The artist was working on this subject for the last year. She wanted to present angels in realistic human-like embodiments. "When an angel appears to a man, it transforms to a earthy mandane shape "...

On some pictures of Janina Kushtevskaya we can see unusual perspectives - angel's look, a part of landscape, a fragment of a wing. However an angel stays in the centre of man's inner world on each picture. The style of painting holds wide range of modest colors and free thick strokes.

The pictures' contents are reflected by their names - "Where we will come, we don`t know", "Give me your hand", "I' ll restrain any fear", "You've been very close thats why you saw me", others. The opening of the exhibition which is contained 17 pictures is going to be on Sunday in Dorp Chirch.

I especially remember the angel with an apple in its hand. The picture is called "You still think about it?". On the one side it adresses the ancient biblical symbol of Adam, but on the other - reminds us that an apple can be the symbol of youth and wisdom.

"The Sky Above Berlin", film by Wim Wenders, is associated in my mind with another picture - "The sky above Moscow", - where an angel wanders around the streets of a night city as well as one in the Wenders's moovie.

Where we will come, we dont know

The church in Dorp.  The angel exhibition presented by Yanina Kushtevskaya will start on Sunday.

The road to unknown starts in dark red and violet colours, it starts somewhere in the picture and goes away disappearing in evening haze. However, in this picture painted in oil there is no doom and disappointment. It causes vital and optimistic thoughts. The angel figure dominates on the canvas. The angel looks as if he asks us: Where we will come, we dont know. This is the title of one of seventeen pictures by Russian painter Yanina Kushtevskaya who will present her exhibition Whether my angel you hear me? devoted to angels.

Church is a wonderful and appropriate place for angel pictures says  Josefina Stursberg, exhibition coordinator Angel gives us guidance in our life and confidence. This faith in good and kind origin is very important today, when people sometimes lose any prospects in their life. I think, paintings by Yanina Kushtevskaya tell us about it. The painter was born in 1974 in Jakutia, lives in Moscow, graduated the Art Academy in Moscow, besides painting she illustrates books and directs theater performances as artistic director. The exhibition will be open till August, 30.
